Bengali Wedding – Bengali weddings are a pompous celebration with very different rituals. There is ‘Saat Paak‘ in which bride encircles the groom while covering her face with betel leaves. The ritual is followed by the blowing of the Conch Shell, commonly known as “Shank” and a variety of mouth watering Bengali cuisines for the guests.

Malayali Wedding – Weddings in Kerala are intimate and simple, being held in the morning and the ceremony is known as ‘Velli‘. The wedding is completed in a hindu ceremony following a yellow thread, ‘Thali‘ tied around bride’s neck by the groom. A reception is held with authentic Malayali cuisines.

Buddhist Weddings – the Buddhist weddings are very simple and low key as the life led by them. There are no specific customs or rituals to a Buddhist wedding, but only getting married in a Buddhist temple is necessary.

Christian Wedding – Christian wedding is a ceremony performed in a Church by priest. It is a ceremony that celebrates every relationship of the couple from friends as bridesmaid and to best man and younger siblings as flower bearers to parents giving away their daughters with love. It is followed by a huge reception with the feast, music and dance.

Gujrati Wedding – Gujarati wedding is a ceremony where jaymala is exchanged twice. Gujarati takes 4 pheras called the Mangal Pheras which symbolises ‘Dharma‘, ‘Artha‘, ‘Kama‘ and ‘Moksha‘. The wedding is followed by a reception with traditional Gujarati feast for the guests.

Hindu Wedding – They imply a colourful ritual centric celebration that goes on for at least 3 days. They are also termed as ‘Big Fat Celebrations’ aptly as Hindu weddings are a true family celebration filled with fun traditions to make bride and groom feel loved, blessed and special. The Hindu weddings are also followed by a grand reception with different choices of cuisines from all over India for the guests.

Islamic wedding – Islamic wedding is known as ‘Nikah‘. They are conducted as per Islamic traditions. After a couple signs the Islamic marriage contract, families hold a public reception which are differently colourful cultural variations from place to place completed with a more colourful feast.

Marathi wedding – Ceremony starting with ‘Shakhar Puda‘ or engagement ceremony where the bride is gifted with a wedding trousseau, the actual wedding ceremony is minimalistic and actually held in morning. The ceremony includes the reciting of Mangalashtak while separating the bride and groom with silk shawl. A reception filled with fun and traditional Maharashtrian cuisines.

Oriya wedding – An Oriya wedding, or Bahaghara, is a ceremony performed by Hindu Oriya people in Orissa. The wedding in Orissa is completely traditional and ritualistic. Some takes place in morning and others in the evening followed by a completely traditional local delicacies.

Sikh wedding – Sikh wedding takes place in gurudwara during the day where the ‘Ardas‘ are recited. The wedding is simplistic followed by a big fat wedding reception with variety of food music and dance truely punjabi style.

Parsi wedding – Also known as ‘Lagan‘, the Parsi weddings are known for their Grand reception parties consisting of cultural dance, music and food. These weddings although being quite different from traditional Hindu weddings are also carried out for almost a week. Every Parsi wedding stage is set in a Beug, or Agiary, The Fire Temple.

Assamese Wedding – In the Assamese wedding, the feast or the reception part is held prior to the marriage ceremony with with mouth watering Assamese dishes. Assamese weddings are  started by a bathing custom in which the bride and grooms mother visit the nearby river to which holy water for the bath.
