On the day of the wedding, Mangala snana with haldi, kumkum, and oil is anointed on the body of the bride-to-be. The bride worships the goddess Gauri and seeks her blessings. When the groom and his team arrive, the brother of the bride receives him and performs aarti. Then, after the paada pooja with vermillion and sandalwood paste and water, the broom is taken to the mandap. Both the bride and the groom exchange garland. Then the father hands over the bride to the groom, which is called Kanya Daan. Then the bride has to promise the groom that he will take care of her. A thread is tied to both of their hands as a ritual of the union.
